    KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, 2968
ULTRA SOUND MACHINE FUND RAISING EFFORT FEB, 9, 2020

The students of Saint John School will conduct a fund raising effort in conjunction with their “dress down day” in memory of George Greene. Mother Elaine has asked me to provide some information regarding the Ultra Sound machine program that the Knights of Columbus supports and that the students will donate to. As the cost of Ultra sound machines is high, our council will support this effort in conjunction with other councils in our district. Together, we will be able to complete this program. The information following is from the Knights of Columbus web site, which explains in more detail the program.

    Higher Purpose

Save lives and help women choose life by giving them the opportunity to view their unborn children on ultrasound machines at pro-life pregnancy centers. This initiative is funded by Knights of Columbus state and local councils with matching grants from the Supreme Council’s Culture of Life Fund.

    Overview

The Knights of Columbus works together as an organization to purchase ultrasound machines for qualifying pregnancy centers. After the state and/or local council raises 50% of the cost, the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council will provide the other 50% to complete funding for purchase of an ultrasound. Or, if the council raises 100% of the cost of a vehicle outfitted to serve as a mobile medical unit for a pregnancy center, the Supreme Council will provide 100% of the funds for an ultrasound machine to be used in that vehicle.

    Featured Program Requirements

Councils are required to identify a Pregnancy Center in need of an ultrasound machine that meets the requirements listed on the Diocesan Evaluation (#10715). Upon approval from the Supreme Council, a council raises 50% of the cost of the ultrasound machine. The council must then follow the published guidelines for obtaining the remaining 50% from the Supreme Council. Qualification for this program will be determined from the information provided on both the Diocesan Evaluation (#10715)and the Ultrasound Application (#10716).
