Spanish - Fr. Aguirre

About your teacher

I am originally from Columbia.  I am an ordained priest to serve the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Norwich.

About myself I will say that serving the people of God is what brings me happiness.  There is nothing more I would like to do than making my ministry an instrumental way to live and serve the kingdom of God.  I am nothing more than a simple and humble server of God.  Presiding the Sacraments and teaching give full meaning to my ministry.

Our Spanish classes focus on an introduction to Spanish language acquisition which follows the natural sequence of language learning.  These are: understanding, speaking, reading and writing. The Spanish Curriculum for St. John School is interdisplinary and is designed to be reinforced in other academic areas throughout the year.

Our goal is to create an immersion experience for every child.

Classes are taught in the target language which will allow students to attune their ears to the sounds of Spanish.

The goals for the first level and upper level classes are to encourage students to understand and respond to the spoken language without English translation and to allow the students to speak Spanish at an individual pace.

The final goal of our Spanish immersion program is for all students to understand that Spanish is not only a means of communication, but also a source of joy which reflects a rich culture.

Older students will also learn about the economic advantage of mastering a second language.

Assessment of your child is based on the teacher’s observation of performance including language skill development and class participation.

Dios les bendiga! (God bless you!)
