SJS Special Choir Practice
Thursday October 3rd, 2019, 3.15pm — 4pm
Location: Grade 7 Classroom
The SJS Special Choir will practice on Thursdays, 3.15-4pm. They will partake in special events, Mass, and prayer services throughout the year. They will also sing at the SJS Graduation in June.
Open to students in Grades 3-8. Please contact choir director, Mrs. Haylon with questions.

Cookie Decorating - Fall (1 of 2 classes)
Friday October 4th, 2019, 1pm — 2pm
Location: Multi-purpose Room
Fall themed cookies (October) and gingerbread cookies (December) will be decorated by students with “cookie kits” provided by Pursuit of Pastry. Students will be provided 6 holiday themed cookies each, along with icing bags and containers of assorted sprinkles.

Three workshops will be held this year to get students prepared for this year's drama production in the Spring.
- Workshops will be held in SJS Gymnasium

Public Speaking
Tuesday October 22nd, 2019, 3.15pm — 4.30pm
Location: SJS Library
Students will learn about the 3V’s of Public Speaking: the Vocal, Visual, and Verbal. Topics under the 3V’s will include:
- Helpful and hurtful body language
- Visual aids
- Verbal “distractions”
- How to bring a speech to life with your words
- How to use your voice to engage the audience
- How to craft a speech using the fundamentals of speech structure
For students registered for program from Grades 6-8.
Note: students should bring a notebook.
The program’s ultimate goal is to equip and empower students to handle her/himself with more confidence in any speaking environment. RJPS will provide each student with a folder containing handout resources. Every student receives a Confident Junior Communicators participation certificate at the end of the program. Certificates will also be given for special achievements/recognition

8th Grade Fundraiser - Pie/Cookie Dough Orders Due * EXTENDED

Pumpkin Auction & Halloween Celebration
Friday October 25th, 2019, 6:30pm
The 8th Grade Class is hosting a Pumpkin Auction for all Saint John School students and their families. Wear your costume and join in the fun!
The live pumpkin auction will begin promptly at 7:30pm and benefit the 8th Grade class. (Also seeking donations of decorated pumpkins - please bring to school by 9am on Friday, 10/25. Please include your name and grade with your pumpkin).
A "Trunk or Treat" will follow the live auction. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please fill in the necessary form available in the SJS office if you would like to have your car as part of the "Trunk or Treat" celebration.
Park in the office lot if you are offering trunk or treat from your vehicle. All other vehicles please park in the large school lot.
SCRIP gift cards, SJS Mugs, SJS Reusable bags will be on sale.
